Blast and paint contract awarded for the Hunter Class Frigate Program’s prototyping phase.

After a competitive tender process, Altrad Services has been awarded the Blast and Paint contract for the Hunter Class Frigate Program’s prototyping phase.

At Osborne Naval Shipyard – South, Altrad Services will blast and paint the steel plate that will be used to manufacture the five representative ship blocks, one of the key outputs of prototyping, before painting the blocks in the new, state-of-the-art blast and paint facility.

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said “This prototyping work is essential to ensure that workers are trained in the systems and processes prior to the beginning of the construction of Navy’s nine Hunter class anti-submarine warfare frigates in 2022”.

Altrad Services Managing Director Andrew Gordon said: “Altrad Services is delighted to support ASC Shipbuilding in this prototype contract for the new Hunter Class Frigate Program.
