Altrad support for Children’s Refuge in Nepal
As part of the Altrad drive in recognition for its Corporate Social Responsibilities, we are delighted to announce support for a Children’s refuge in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The refuge was setup in 2005 and intercepted and rescued 10 young girls aged between 5 and 7 years of age from people traffickers who would have likely sold them into futures with unspeakable consequences. The center, operating on a shoestring budget, has given them security, a home / family environment, education and ultimately futures.
Regional MD Steve Connolly commented
“The Centre has done a remarkable job with very limited support, and having visited and met with these young people it was quickly recognised that we could do some real good with some direct support, these children have gone from having the most horrific futures, to now being wonderful young people with solid educations and careers in nursing, teaching and catering as a direct result of the good people who intervened, it is truly a humbling experience to listen to the stories of the refuge founder and of each of the girls and the journey they have been on.”
Louis Huetz Altrad CEO commented
“The Nepalese community is an important and significant part of the Altrad family, and we are delighted to support this center in such a way, in what we hope will be a longstanding relationship”
For security / safety reasons, we cannot disclose the name of the Refuge.
