ALTRAD Nigeria: Bringing drinking water to those who need it most
ALTRAD Nigeria (PREZICON) is sponsoring the construction of 2 boreholes in Plateau State located in the center of Nigeria. The Jos Plateau is the source of many rivers in Northern Nigeria. Unfortunately, families who live in isolated villages do not have access to clean drinking water.
Improving the supply of drinking water to the population is a very important issue for Nigeria in the fight against poverty and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
By sponsoring these 2 boreholes, ALTRAD Nigeria aims at relieving girls and mothers of the arduous task of fetching water in the morning or fetching wood to boil water and make it safe to drink. It will then contribute to the reduction of water-borne diseases and generally to the reduction of poverty in the concerned area.
The drilling part should start this week: the road to Laras is still a bit too wet for the truck that has to come with the drilling machine. After that, they will need about ten days to install the pump and build the taps. If all goes well, the inhabitants will have drinking water thanks to ALTRAD Nigeria at the end of November 2023.
More information will be shared once the 2 boreholes would have been fully installed and in use.
